India which has a rich tradition and heritage has produced great saints and sages. Adi Shankara is one such towering personality who travelled length and breadth of the country and gained vast knowledge at the very early age of his life. He experienced that Knowledge and Devotion are one and the same. He composed out of his experience a number of hymns in praise of the almighty.

"Soundarya Lahari" is one such composition that invokes goddess mother. He placed "Mother" in a very high esteem and his praise of the mother is seen in "Soundarya Lahari". It is very apt that our institutions have derived its name from the compositions of "Adi Shankara". We are proud of our great heritage.
